I would hit it up with some steel wool. Heat it up and scrap. Once rust is removed wash it thoroughly. Then start seasoning.

There are other methods for removing rust. Baking soda and vinegar can be used to help also.

You definitely can bring that around.

You can and I've seen others do that. Would be faster for sure.

A wire wheel is fine. Rinse with hot water and soap when you’re done, then wipe with vinegar.

Pop it in a 200 degree oven for 15 minutes then crank the heat to 450 and start seasoning.

Anyone use skyco ospho on cast iron pans? It worked wonders on some rusted barn metal.

I recovered one with a wire wheel. It had been sitting in the weather for quite a while before I got it. Cleaned up just fine.
