NOTE: this is NOT "on your own"... do it yourself.
Had a chance to go to South Dakota on a pheasant hunting trip sponsored by a drug company. If it involves shooting or hunting I'm all for it.... especially when it's free.
When I first moved to Iowa in the early '90's it wasn't uncommon for me to shoot 30 roosters per year. Those were the good days. Now with high corn prices = NO CRP or fence rows, the birds numbers are very low in northeast Iowa. I still have dogs and love to work the dogs over birds so I jump at any opportunity.
BrownDog worked very well and had lots of nice points on birds. I just shot one bird..... I worked the dog the rest of the time. I just love to see dogs work birds and hold a point. The group I was with shot lots of birds. The temps and conditions were perfect... 40 degrees, sun, a slight wind and two inches of snow. Scenting conditions were FANTASTIC
I was able to treat the group with my Southern Comfort Pheasant.... which was well received.
The pics are not the greatest. I should have carried the camera on the first day also.
Is life good... or what!!!!!!!
BrownDog on point in a corn/milo strip.
BrownDog and me.
BrownDog taking a rest while heading to the next field. He's 10 years old and gets tired, however, he never quits hunting. He's a bird finder.
Some of the many birds shot
A pic of Lake Francis Case, north of Chamberlain, South Dakota.
Good luck to all
