Bitcoin - Cryptocurrency

Jeez louise. Are we talking about an investment here, or some woman on a dating app.?

I like investments where the companies actually produce a product that people use on an everyday basis. Stupid, I know.
Blather on SAJ-99 why any of these companies are a bad investment today.😉
I think the bottom line is you're just jealous (maybe bitter?) of the people who have made 10x, 100x, 1,000x or more on their money in bitcoin.

Anyone who has bought and held energy investments the last 10 years has by and large done incredibly terrible. Been dead money for a decade for the majority of stocks. Personally, I think the next decade will be a lot better but damn, I am super happy I sold all my energy stocks many many years ago.

Real question, out of curiosity. If bitcoin had a big correction, at what price would some of you guys buy? And would you buy very much? If you're a complete non-believer, then you'd probably never buy and that's perfectly fine. It's had 80-90% corrections in the past and could/probably will happen again. I'd have no problem at all having 1% of my investments in bitcoin and am very slowly accumulating my way there. Probably the same amount in gold. A big haircut would help.

well I’m no longer single splitting rent with 3 other dudes like I was when I dropped coin on eth back whenever that was

If eth drops below 1000 I might start buying in a little again into my long term account. But I don’t wanna buy too much unless it drops to like 600-700. The average buy price in my long term account is decent

but like my robinhood account, the rule is it must only be fun money. And when something like over 80% of my allotment of fun money goes towards hunting it’s a small chunk that goes to any risky side investing let alone crypto

all said and done, if it we’re to drop to 600 again I might throw 300 more bucks at it

Reading this thread and others like it has convinced me that I will be driving my old Tacoma and biting my nails over whether or not to pony up the $15 a month for an Audible subscription for the rest of my life. I have no frickin clue what most you investor dudes are talking about. Might be time to educate myself...
Ever been to Vegas or an Indian Reservation casino? Think of this thread like that vs. traditional investing.

Definitely picking up on that. But I’m at the point where I’m like, how do you buy a stock? 🤷
Robinhood app, like everyone else. Have to be 18 and have a SS#, but easy. Main downside is they have zero customer service support, so don’t go putting your retirement in there or anything. Don’t think you can but Bitcoin.

Don't start with buying individual stocks. Currently I have <2% of my portfolio holding individual stocks, the rest is in index funds. This wiki has a ton of info on investing for long term:

Oh yes you can... but I haven't yet.

i could see some serious regulation on crypto potentially doing one of two things: creating a legit space for crypto to flourish or kill it dead where it's standing

we'll see. i can't help but see someone who is just yelling at the damn kids on her lawn though

Could be the catalyst to make pullback 20-50%. If you're a bitcoin bull, a pullback would be a big positive.

Regulation is coming. I agree that some of the more popular ones might survive and thrive. Not sure about the thrive part. It seems like only two things are driving the buyers - speculation and the need to conceal the transaction. The later will get hit hard because, at the very least, the government likes to collects its taxes.
