Backpacked in for elk last weekend and had some success.
Cliff notes:
-Great weather
-Then terrible weather
-Took an accidental swim the creek with a full load in the middle of the night
-Car dead upon reaching the trailhead on two separate occasions
-About 50% of the guides/outfitters I've ever talked to are tools
-It has occurred to me that the last two may be linked
-Elk are heavy, good thing they're made of meat

Congrats on a good bull in what looks like some great country!

PS- you forgot your camo again... ;)

holy smokes are those packs loaded.guess you only wanted to do one trip out.Congrats on your bull.Looks like wilderness areas that I couldn't hunt as a nr anyway.Great pics

What an excellent bull :) Your packs look heavy, what weight would they be approximately?

The first one was +- 115, the second was +- 90. I had a little help on the second trip so that was nice.

Very Nice, congrats!

You have any trouble figuring out the load shelf with all the straps? I bought the 5100 a month ago and ended up shooting a bear a week ago and wasn't real familiar with the pack. Ended up in the dark trying to figure all that out for the first time. I think I got it now but I'm sure it was pretty comical if you were able to see it.
