Ask your onX Hunt questions here!

I've never had this problem with android, if I completely close the app or phone battery dies it will ask if I want to resume or discard the track and then it draws a straight line, but if I just minimize the app and or lock the screen it always maintains the detailed track for me.
Well I just got out and recorded some tracks this year, and I'm now having this issue of straight line every time the screen is locked, never had this issue in the past, same phone as last year. @onX Hunt can you please clarify why my tracks aren't tracking unless I have my phone open and onx displayed?

I looked at all my tracks from the last 5 years and they all show full detail other than a few occasions when my battery died or something similar. Every track from the last week are connect the dot straight lines when I'd pull my phone out to check location. This is completely non-functional and honestly unacceptable for me as a customer. Hopefully it's just an update or something I missed or something you are fixing right away?

The first thing to try is to reset the location services on your phone. Quite often, that resolves issues like this. If your tracking is still not working as it should after resetting the location services, please send us an email to [email protected] so our customer service team can dig in deeper for you.

It tracks perfectly as long as the phone and app are open, but when I lock the screen it doesn't track during that time until I unlock the phone and then it draws a straight line to the previous spot where I unlocked it. This is a new problem that doesn't appear to be a phone location issue, as all other location functions have been fine. I'll send an email.

Exactly the same thing happens to me with my samsung 21S+.

I do not think it used to do that. One possible explanation is that I have it on some mode that uses minimal battery power.

Here is an example from this morning.

This was a four mile round trip out and back on exactly the same track.

Yet you can see that I apparently shortcut a perfectly straight line through impossible dog hair popple on part of the return. My boots tell me I did not actually follow that route.

Sorry about the trouble there! Please send us an email to [email protected]. Our customer support agents will be better able to get to the bottom of this issue and get your app back up and running as it should be.
Thanks for sending me to customer support. They said I am a sloppy messy voluminous marker and track maker and have TOO MUCH content saved!. LOL. I could not disagree so deleted a buch of content for certain hunt units around the west (after exporting in case need in future) to get below the max recommended content level (3,000 markers of 4 MB of data overall)

I had power saver mode on and when I opened onx it told me I had to turn power save mode off to run onx, so I did and assumed that wasn't an issue, but maybe I'll look into that more. Also using S21+, but was not an issue last year with same phone.

I've been a gaia user for many years. But I've had nothing but issues the past two years. The latest problem is an issue with map layers. And to make it worse, their customer service just seems to get worse and worse. I have tons of hunting waypoints, with descriptions/info. It is also used for hiking and backcountry skiing. But the primary use is hunting.

I'm to the point of considering a change. Onx seems to be the logical choice. Can I transfer all my info seamlessly, including descriptions? Which subscription do most of you use? I mostly hunt one state, Montana. And are there any discount codes or incentives?

Thanks Pete

Agree on all counts. It isn't even an issue at all times this year, if you look at my track from yesterday.

On my last hunt, I closed all other apps, went to offline maps, started a track, and went to airplane mode before heading out. My battery barely even lasted the morning.

In previous years, my phone has lasted multiple days using this method. Any ideas why the battery life would be a fraction of what it used to be?

I noticed mine was barely using any battery while tracking all day, which normally will use my battery up by mid afternoon if started at dawn. Then I realized it wasn't actually full tracking, when I started leaving the phone on and sticking it in my bino pouch it started sucking the juice like it usually would when full tracking.

Are you using android or apple? Buddy of mine seems to have better battery life while tracking using apple.

Apple.

Is it possible to download maps onto your laptop for offline use? It would be nice to review maps at basecamp on computer rather than phone.

still waiting for desktop offline maps

It would be a lot easier to download onx offline maps for my laptop vs using a developer hack so I can download google earth imagery for offline use when I'm in hunting camp. It would almost make onx a complete e-scouting solution; missing only the ability to import geo referenced pdf/kml/kmz/geotiff overlays.

We hear you, and we absolutely see how that could be useful at times, but right now our focus is on developing features for the Mobile App for in field use, and Web Map features for at home use. At this time, offline maps for the Web Map is not on our development roadmap

Can the elevation reading of your gps location be made larger on app screen? Can it be edited on the app or does this need to be done in house by OnX staff?

That is not an option at this time, but we will pass your recommendation along to our Design Team!

heard there's a new update coming soon. what can we expect?
We don't really have any major updates planned for the immediate future. During hunting season, or focus is on app stability and performance so we try to not do any major updates during the season, lest that update affect performance during the heart of hunting season.

Question:
The “no public access” in this parcel; does that apply to the entire property, or just to the road? I’ve never seen this marking before. Generally this timber co is open to access, and the way it snakes along the road makes me think it’s talking about the road exclusively.

Any plan to make roadless areas adjustable? The layer is totally useless in so many areas, specifically alot of BLM in NM, AZ, but also areas like National Forest in MS.
Why can't there be a slider or input for the roadless area so we can set for 3/8 or 1/4 mile. I understand that many people hike further than this, but I feel like it's relative to the area, and putting it at say 1/8 or 1/4 mile would show areas that might not be seen from the road.
