Hello,
Not new to this site been on here since the site opened, typically don't post. Created a new account because it's been so long since I actually logged in to ask a question I had no idea what my password was or what email it was tied to. Mostly just like following everyone’s posts and learning from questions others ask. Long time bear hunter, typically Idaho and Montana. Way back when, actually got information from frequently banned troll/greenhorn and Randy that started my bear hunting in southwest Montana that area is my favorite place to chase spring bears. The Gravely and Gallatin ranges have been my May stomping ground for almost 20 plus years. Killed my largest bear in a canyon Greenhorn not knowingly might have led me onto just following all of his bear posts over the years. Did Northern Idaho, unit 1, one year to see some new country during Covid because the kids were out of school and could go further without missing their spring sports. Looking to see some new country again and California is one state I've never hunted or explored. Would like to plan a trip this fall, love seeing new country and having a bear tag in my pocket is an added bonus. I've done a couple hrs of research on bear densities, and on a good area to focus on. There definitely is a lack of information specific to hunting bears in California. any other state you're scrolling through article after article on places and areas to hunt. looking for an area with a good amount of public access. Hunting Montana and Idaho spot and stalk is always how I've hunted also calling has worked over the years pretty good in the right areas. I guess any info on hunting California would be appreciated. I’ve kinda narrowed it down to areas between Redding and Yreka along I-5, but any general area to look into would be great. My wife always comes with and as her health isn’t the best anymore I’m limited to day trips out of either a VRBO, cabin, or hotel. I’m in good shape and can hike as far as needed. I can spend a night on the mountain she just needs running water and electricity for her medical needs. Anyone looking to hunt Montana for bears, or anyone lucky enough to draw a deer or elk tag in Utah I am willing to help out with information. Grew up in central Utah and could share information on good starting points in Utah for sheep, mtn goat, elk, deer on units from Nephi, Utah south to the border, not great with northern Utah except for mtn goats. Would also be willing to meet for a weekend or day before a hunt to show around units.
Thanks
Thought I should share a few pics of some animals from over the years.
Anybody interested in a good Canadian goose hunt or Mexico deer hunt I can give a good reference for those as well.
