Anyone else getting antsy?

Yes - antsy. Looking for big antelope this weekend while being elsewhere for other reasons - don’t even know if I’ve got a permit but assuming I will as I used my wife for her stack of points - she will also hunt.

Hunting antelope in WY in less than 3 weeks, then elk in WY with a friend then elk in MT with my son and maybe antelope rifle in WY if no luck earlier, then who knows what from there ..

Fun times ahead

Fishing AK end of August. Rifle pronghorn in Wyoming for me, nephew, and Dad. Followed up by rifle pronghorn with 3 NR friends. Early October Montana moose with a friend. Mid October moose with my Dad and Brother. Back to Wyoming rifle elk for some NR friends. Back to Montana rifle elk in the breaks with my oldest nephew. Back to NW Montana set deer/elk camp with family and a friend or two. Back to Wyoming bull elk and at least 2 cow elk for myself.

Other than that, not much going on.

Taking my boy to Utah for a deer hunt at the beginning of October. That will be a special time. Then I have a Nevada elk hunt in November! Can't wait for fall. Weather sucks in central California currently.

Sept 1 - Blue Grouse

Then the youth hunt with my boy in mid-Oct for mountain whitetail.

I’m always jacked for November, and will once again probably have more days off for 5 weeks than work. That’s a goal I’ve achieved for the last 5 years or so.

I might be just as excited for December trapping as anything this year. Got new traps to try, new sets, new spots.

You don't have TIME for much else! 😉

I start getting antsy in February. Then some shed hunting and turkeys distract me for a bit. Then usually get busy fishing for a couple months.

My reloading room and the archery range has been getting a lot of use lately.

literally 1/2 of oregon is on fire,,even main hwys and freeways are closed in parts of eastern oregon,,poor forest management starts at the top,,i blame the governer for dragging her feet on getting the national guard and contractors not coming soon enough,,just for comparisons the great historic tillamook burn back in the day was 355000 acres and big news.at last count oregon has a combined 1.8 million acres burning now.alot of hunt units are completely wiped out now, alot of timber is a complete waste now.fire crews stay safe

my cow hunt starts in a few weeks, and so far at least the southern part of my unit isnt on fire yet.hopefully they will have things in better shape in a couple of weeks im hoping,,but wouldnt be surprised if they went to full closure with the fires.

-First week of September annual opening day of hunting season in Virginia squirrel.

-October 8th heading to Wyoming to hopefully fill two antelope tags then, sliding down to Colorado to try filling the grandsons 1st rifle elk tag.

-November 5th heading back to Colorado to chase 3rd season mulies with the rifle then, heading to Wyoming to try filling the grandsons region A deer tag and any unfilled antelope tags.

-We will finish the year chasing Virginia deer into January and squirrel into February.

I just want to talk about hunting.

What’s your first hunt and how long until it starts?
What hunt are you most excited about?
Whats a season goal this year?
Any new piece of gear you’re excited to try?

1.) grouse in early September.

2.) the first hunt with the idiot lab (sept 15th). Our last couple seasons were cut short by her legs then my ear infection.

3.) hunt at least 30 days for grouse

4 ) there's a 98% B. Halliday & Co. boxlock circa 1954 getting her chokes opened up at the gunsmiths. Should be ready by the first hunt.

44 days until Wyoming antelope
49 days until Wyoming deer & my home state whitetail opens
116 days until Wyoming elk
160 days until Oklahoma elk

I held off as long as I could, but I’m starting to lose it….

Been shooting my bow daily, rifle every weekend, and I’m just ready to be out west.

I'll probably just stay home this year. A zone opens August 8th I believe. There's a couple big body bucks I've seen lately and the pigs are always around somewhere.

Im antsy to get a rifle stock that I've been waiting on for 20 weeks now. Wanted to have this rifle finished for the season but we will see.

Still waiting of MT antelope draw but learned that my dad has two private permissions for his LE elk tag this fall. Im excited for him to finally shoot a "big" bull
