Damn, and I thought that was a big secret for the day.

Further indication of how fast the Simpson language is coming down the pike. The wolf nuts caved and are now eating each other's lunch, and now WY wants on the train. Wonder if the train is too far down the tracks for them to get on board for this trip?

Anyone who takes your bet is going to lose some money. The new governor doesn't have all the old baggage that the former Governor had. Deals were made in the past, and in politics, deals come with a price.

I can hardly wait to read the posts of the Johnny Bad Asses who pointed to WY as the answer to all our problems. There will be some positive spin, no matter what the outcome.

Regardless of the deal they make, MT and ID are best served to get the legislation through. Compromises are no good. Legislation, especially when it says "Not subject to judicial review" has the best long-term prospects.

So, consider this very likely scenario.

Wyoming gets a deal from the USFWS. MT and ID get the Simpson language. Do the Kool-aid drinkers say we junk it all, because it is not complete removal of the ESA?

That will be a fun discussion to watch over on the home turf of Sportsmen For the Wealthy and Big Game For Us.

If WY gets a deal, the time to call the bluff on SFW/BGF is at hand. Their money machine really comes to a grinding halt at that time. They may have overplayed a bad hand even worse than the wolf nuts, if WY gets on the train.

I am sure there is some other important wildlife issue to be converted to a profitable enterprise. Might take a week or two for all sides to re-tool the wolf money machines to different issues, but rest assured the money machines will be in play, and quickly.

God, this is almost too funny to watch unfold.

Just guessing that this leaves you shaking your head as does most of us. Scares the chit out of me that politicos are saying to each other that,"Hey, if you bend on this one I will look the other way on your next *deal*. Correct me if I am wrong.

My last post on MM was a set up, think they'll be any takers? You got to love it when shit happens like you said,(hoped) it would.

Salazar is in WY for an energy announcement. I wonder if he will announce that he found 1/2 of the WY Range mule deer herd in the sludge pits in the anticline?

We'll see. I think that Meade has less baggage w/ the wolf issue than Freudenthal did. There's still a lot of ground to be covered in WY before an acceptable plan will be crafted. Maybe Buzz could go lend them a hand? :)

Big Fin, are you getting riled up or what ? That last post had me laughing out loud.

I thought you would like the Girl Scout comment.

Not really riled up, just seeing how the house of cards is starting to collapse, and giving it a little help every now and then.

And, tired of the MT and ID hunter being screwed over by groups asking for their money, then going to DC and elsewhere and laying the pipe to us.

Good news is, the rumors of last month are no longer rumors. Flat out admission now. Can't wait to see what unfolds in the next two weeks.

The same legislation that has the wolf lovers jumping ship has the SFW/BGF crowd in a scramble. If we get that legislation in the next month, as it looks like we might, the funnier part will be watching the damage control.

And if WY bails and wants in, how could you not laugh hysterically at the guys who kept shouting how MT and ID were pusses for adopting plans that reflected the values of our citizens.

Glad it is entertaining, if nothing else. Hopefully slightly informative for those who are trying to decide who with "with 'em or against 'em" in this wolf issue.

My only regret if Salazaar announces a deal with WY is that a former poster is no longer around here to pay off the bet he'd lost to me... :D

It'll also be interesting to hear what the energy announcement is. After passing down the Wildlands/Wilderness requirement recently I know of at least on state that was looking to change O/G leasing policy. However, that was put on indefinite hold by DC. Seems like some there don't want to restrict leasing/drilling with the price of gas rising as fast as it is. Gotta love politics driving natural resource management...
