2026 Garden

Found a green pepper! Mountain Fresh tomatoes are starting to put on. The Amish paste are very slow to start putting fruit on. The heat last few days has kick started the garden. Potatoes are getting ready to bloom. Planted Huckleberry potatoes low in starch sugars for diabetic friendly (if there is such a thing). All I do is water and wait for now.

3.5-4 inches of rain since last Thursday, definitely will help make up for the drought but also not great for tomatoes starting to turn. I'll take it though for sure. Another squash got hit with a vine borer so thats 3/4 from the first planting. Think I caught this one early enough but we will wait and see. Ordered some syringes to start injecting with BT moving forward and hope that works. Also planning to try a couple different varieties next year that are more resistant, I haven't had this much trouble with vine borers before.

Watermelons are looking good, hoping that the first one will be ready for the 4th but we'll see. Also couldn't resist some blueberry bushes at the garden supply. I had been thinking about getting some in the future but these were already loaded with blueberries and got the better of me. All the lettuce is cut now, second wave of squash is planted in the potato bed. Started pulling cherry tomatoes this week. Lot of blossom end rot on the romas so far. Probably not enough water in this drought. Cherokee purples are looking okay though and theyre what I really care about. 20260623_155751.jpg20260623_155759.jpg20260623_191631.jpg20260623_191635.jpg

Peas -- done, harvested.
Broccoli -- done, harvested (all but one, my wife read about leaving one where it might regrow).
Tomatoes -- slowly starting to flower.
Green beans -- doing good, harvested, more to come.
Squash & Zucchini -- slowly starting to take off. Early chill stunted them?
Green peppers -- looking good so far, but may also have been stunted by the cold snap.
---------------------------------------------
Herbs: Parsley, Oregano, and Basil -- all are doing fantastic, and we have been giving away Basil!

Anyone have any idea what's wrong with this tomato plant? Seemed great just a couple days ago. Go figure the one year insacel back i have a bad tomato plant. I'm a little sad.

Herbicide overspray would be a good guess especially where you live but if it's only one plant affected I think my guess is fungal.

Lettuce is doing good. Onions are in a raised box and doesn’t have enough drainage so some rotting issues. Oh well know for next year. Potatoes are getting close to flowering. Cut a bunch of scapes off my garlic last night. Carrots, beans and beets are doing good. Tomatoes and peppers haven’t seem to have grown at all with the cold spring we have been having

Garden is spooling up. Packed a salad this evening with tomato, lettuce, spinach and onion from the garden.
The missus had sautéed squash and smoked chicken thighs made for me this afternoon before night shift.
Had my first BLT with garden tomato yesterday.
It's tasting like summer around here.

3rd straight day of this heat has started to take a toll. Final squash from the first planting also has a vine borer so I tried injecting it with BT, hopefully that will work. Romas and cherokee purples struggling with blossom end rot. Cherry tomatoes doing really well though, both of the watermelons on the vine are looking good. Should be getting close to pulling them. Thai chilies have put out a ton, I'm letting them ripen up before pulling them. 20260704_090009.jpg20260704_090012.jpgScreenshot_20260704_132054_Weather.jpg20260704_090015.jpg20260704_090019.jpg
