Any hockey fans out there?

With Stevey Y's job on the line, I don't think the Wild have the assets to get Larkin. I also don't think he'll end up in Colorado or Vegas. The leak was he wants to play in the playoffs.... he would fit in as a #2 in Montreal real well. The Habs also have something like 18 million in cap space.

It'll be interesting to if the Rangers are also shopping Trocheck and Lafreniere

I don’t see him going to canadia, being he can veto any team. He’s real close with Quinn. It’d be a good package, but you’re getting a known commodity for a team looking to win in the next 4-5 years. He fits the Wild’s team building timeline well. We’ll see.

We're not denying he's not a fit for the Wild. But the Wild don't have the prospects, draft picks and salary room for him. They need to fill 8 roster spots with 12 million in cap space.

I know, but I don’t think that’s going to stop Billy G from trying his damndest to try to make it happen.

Think Stevie Y is leaking all of this stuff?

I think he ends up in FLA or MIN on a relative discount/short term.

How could it be short term discount? He has 5 more years at $8.7m AAV.

It isn't a surprise that he picked those teams. He wants to win. I don't think there is even a debate about 'fit'. The problem is good teams all face the same problem - their talent cost money and there is a salary cap. Florida is in the same situation as the Wild and Vegas is in a worse situation. They all have to get rid of someone to make cap space to get Larkin and while still filling the other slots. I'm sure some GM will make it work, maybe Guerin. But I stick to my view that the Wild had a depth problem and adding Larkin and a bunch of bums on minimum contracts probably doesn't fix that.

Yeah I’m an idiot, didn’t realize he had 5 years left!

It’s a reasonable amount for him, but hard to absorb for a team that is already good without it dealing away some assets. Red Wings need to decide if they are going full rebuild. If they do, the other two teams can look at Debrincat.

Hell, the Redwings in reality don't have to do anything. They have the right to keep him until the end of his contract, If he doesn't like it they can bury him in the AHL for 5 years. Something is going on with Team USA now. Larkin, Hellebuyck and Tkachuk all now want out of their contracts. If I was a GM I wouldn't want them on my team, they have no commitment
