I like the pictures of the pheasants. Seems odd to me that the rooster is with the chicks; is that happenstance or does the male help with the rearing? Anybody know?

The hen and another chick were on the brace when I first drove by, but flushed when I turned around for a pic.

That looks like a snipe.

It looks like a Bittern. I think that is how you spell it. A member of the crane family of birds.

The male does not help with the rearing, it was "atypical" to see this rooster with a brood. Now quit using words like "happenstance", I thought it was made up.

Here is another shot from the other day. It would have been cooler if I would have gotten a shot 30 seconds earlier when the buck and foxes were within 2' feet with stretched out necks and sniffing each other out.
