Or so Jim Zumbo once said.

Was able to hunt on Sunday on a friend's place. Had a 004-80 B tag to fill, and figured this would be my best opportunity of the season to try and fill it. Camped out at a partner's camper the night before and we headed out around 6 am to the Ranch. Ran in to another friend who had shot his cow the night before and was lazing around camp before heading out. He let us know the lay of the land, and we set out for a walk. Ended up about 2.5 miles from the truck before we glassed a small herd of cows and spikes vacating the NF lands above us, and heading to the timber. We moved on a little more and glassed again. About 2 minutes later, the herd came out of the timber about 500 yards from where we were, heading right for us. I was able to take the led cow at about 125 yards. They never knew we were there, and after she dropped, the herd slowly moved off to the south.

No Grizz, just sign. Did see a lone white wolf. Pretty cool.

Harley, it's a custom 338 WM on a Winchester 1917 action. Love that rifle. Picked it up used for a song.

Rosco, no clue. It kind of looks like a Richards Micro-fit, but then again, it's just a variation on the Weatherby style. I like the Birdseye Maple front piece and grip cap, will probably have the gc filed down to something less dramatic, and get the cheekpiece removed (I shoot left handed), and put a decelerator pad on it after the season.

Very cool pics, Ben. In some of the coolest country in North America. Congrats on the great hunt. Good eats.

Congrats on the Cow Elk, I couldn't agree with you more. Any elk is a damn fine elk these day! Keep up the hard work.
