When visitors visit our towns and do things, like seen in this video, some of them say, since they were in town they assumed they were tame or town pets. This has even been said even about Polar Bears who show up in town. We also tell people over and over again that the sled dogs are working animals, not household pets. they can be aggressive, but regrettably some do not listen. One strike from that moose could have easily broken something but social media has become so prominent in the lives of some that people die from falling off, something, while trying to get that "unbelievable" picture to put on social media. As noharleyyet said----she didn't learn a thing.

On our first trip to Alaska we were traveling by train to Fairbanks and were at one of our stops. There was a cow and calf moose strolling through heading for a small pond and willow patch. We all were taking pictures and several folks kept moving closer for a "better" shot. I was chatting with our tour guide, who we later became best friends with, about them and I noticed the cow getting anxious. I told the people to back off and maybe half listened. When our guide explained how dangerous it was then the "hunter" in the group got a little more appreciated for any knowledge. They sure did like it whenever I spotted critters where nobody else could see them!

people are ignorant of realities of wildlife. Without education and experiences to draw from we shouldn’t be surprised

These are the SAME people that once they are attacked want the animal killed because it is dangerous !

That is crazy, you can't educate pork.

Not just over your side of the pond, here is some craziness from my side

Some people don't get how dangerous these 'cute' animals can be, when I was bird shooting I turned a corner and walked into a huge red stag with his hinds during the rut, he wasn't happy, he came for me, I fired one shot over it's head, he still walked towards me, he got to 10 yards away and stopped, otherwise he would have a got a AAA between the eyes, I always carry a couple during the rut!

Cheers

When I was growing up we had a kindergartener get trampled and hospitalized by a moose as he was walking to school. Thought it was a horse I think and tried to pet it. I am not saying he was stupid like this gal, but just that moose can sure be dangerous!

There's a lot of wannabe Timothy Treadwells out there. Wildlife are just like their cuddly pets on the inside. They dont respect the animals and don't understand the necessity of management through hunting. Probably think hunting is hurting wildlife rather than habitat loss.

Yeah, but I cringe when the parents drag their kids into it. Like they say, "It's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt"!
