Angel Fire Memorial

The monument with the "Welcome Home" banner - what does it represent?
A white "Angelic" flame?

Charles,

That is a rear view of the Peace and Brotherhood Chapel. Side view resembles a large sail and can be seen for many miles. One simply cannot visit these grounds and not be deeply moved. I was there on Sunday...the ride to the monument was Monday...am sure it was immense.

I figured it was a Vietnam related memorial or a tribute to with the huey though what a bit of reading could have answered. oops. Thanks.

My father and uncle went to Vietnam. My grandmother used to say, "It took 9 months to bring my son into this world and 9 months for the gov't to take him out." He was killed in action in Quang Tin. Pic below.

My father managed to physically make it out. The family has a full history of military service. In fact my grandmother (the same quoted above) was one of the first women to serve as a member of the Navy WAVES working on aircraft. Rambling now...

Thanks for the info. It will be a stop to make when travels take us that way.
