A friend has a new 300 WSM and ammo has been hard to find. I have dies from an old project and some brass, but can't find my old notes. Anyone loading for this one have some powder suggestions to start? I have plenty of 4350 in both flavors, H4831 and some CFE 6.5 and a limited amount of reloader powders.

I load 180 Accubonds for a 700 300 Wizzum, will check & PM.

I load 175 lrx with reloader 17 but a family members boy friend is struggling to find ammo but also complaining about recoil.
I have 130 ttsx bullets and looking at trying big game or …

If you have h4350 I would pick a bullet that works with that powder. I like h4350 for temps insensitivity.
H4350 is listed by Barnes for 175/180 grain bullets.
I didn’t see any loads with h4350 and nosler.

Finding powder seems harder than finding bullets but I think it depends on the day.

I haven't worked up a load for mine in years, but my two best loads were with 180accubonds and RL22 and IMR4831. H4350 may be better for 165s, but I never tried it. RL22 was super accurate and never wasted time after finding that load. H4831 should be right in the mix with RL22 and IMR4831.

I loaded up these 165 Speers in 300WSM the other day for a guy. We shot all afternoon with test loads and the best I could do was a ~1" group at 100 yards. Not very satisfied to be honest. I was looking for better, but it is good enough I guess. We did try some Hornady 165's and had terrible results with them. So bad in fact that I thought maybe we had a loose mount.... Winchester Model 70 all-weather rifle.

-66 grains of 4350
-"FLR" - .003 bump back off the shoulder.
-Published COAL to be able to fit the magazine.

Backing off the lands was out of the question as the throat on that particular rifle was deep and there was too much bullet sticking out of the case for my liking.

Personally, I am a 4064 guy with 150 grain bullets out of my 300 WSM kind of guy. I get phenomenal results out of my Browning with that load.

Until the other day I had never even touched 4350. Can't say that I will miss it. I do wish I had some 180's to try over that powder charge though.....

166gr Hammer Hunter over 63gr of H4350 worked well for me. 3080fps.

My best load was 166gr Hammer Hunter with 65gr RL17. 3140fps. Found it to be a little temp sensitive, so trying to move away from it. It’s also hard to find.

My current load is 150gr TTSX over 70.2gr Superperformance. 3200fps. That powder seems to be fairly available, but if you’re shooting 180’s it may not be the best.

62.X grains of H4350 behind a 180 class bullet = Money. I've only used norma brass, others may require a different powder charge.

W/ 200gr class bullets and a mid 60s grain charge of H4831sc is good as well.

H4350, 168 gr. Barnes TTSX, Norma brass, Fed. Large rifle magnum primers and 3100 fps. Barnes has a recipe they publish for free online.

H4350 or IMR4350 would work well as would H4831SC. I'm using H4831SC in my son's 300 WSM with Nosler 180 gr. Partition and Accubond. Those 3 powders would be worth trying.

The superformance wasn't temp sensitive in your load?

180 Accubonds, 69g Superformance, 3035 fps

Last week was my first time ever using it; I haven’t shot it in cold weather or tested it with chilled rounds, so I can’t say. What have you found?

What I can say is that my rifle loves it. Easiest load development I have ever done. Did a 1gr increment ladder with it and 150ttsx to note velocities and find pressure and ended up with 68-72gr (3066-3306fps) all landing within an inch of one another. Was easy after that.

I thought I read it was temp stable, but now see that it’s not one of their Extreme powders. … Are you trying to break up a happy home?? I was really liking what we had going here.

I had over 100fps velocity swings on loads that were shot at 85° vs 15°
Probably not a big deal if you're not shooting long range. I like the powder and it makes great 300wsm & 6.5 loads, I was curious how much fps variation you were measuring .
