2025 General elk is a wrap

@BuzzH That Accubond looks great. Out of curiosity, do you have any details on shot angle, distance, pictures, other details etc. of the ABLR failure?

Congrats on another great year in the elk woods! I hope I’m still getting in the hills in my 80’s! That’s impressive!

What cartridge was the 6.5 in? How fast was that bullet traveling? Just curious…

Funny you say that, I had to really think about the last time I missed one. Been a while but surely wont be the last. It happens.

It was my fault and a poor decision.
Put it down to you having the flu, women have colds, men have the flu, I thought everyone knew that:ROFLMAO:

What a great result, and George at 83, amazing, hope for us chaps getting older yet!

That young chap was obviously raised well to offer you the hunt first.

Finally my other buddy from IL got a spike. Caution to all, if you use 6.5 140 Accubond Long Range bullets for elk, rethink it. He hit the elk right in the shoulder and the bullet exploded and didn't even get into the body cavity. Without snow, that would have been a lost elk for sure as the bull traveled 1.08 miles in a straight line before he caught up to it and finished it off.
I had this happen with an Accubond out of my 270 with a cow elk about 7 years ago. I shot her and hit her rib. The bullet exploded and just nicked the liver as it deflected off of the rib bone. I got her but it was a close one.
