2025 Garden!

Not the garden but half of the saskatoon berries I picked tonight. The other half we will eat fresh View attachment 377769
It’s funny how many people snub those. I eat them fresh and have made breakfast sausage with them.
Want to make dried meat with them. What do you do with your saved ones?

I think you meant serviceberry though!🤔

I usually make pie or crisps. I just recently made syrup with some. I found ours after sitting in the fridge for just a day lost their flavour compared to when they are first picked. Never heard them called service berries till right now. Always saskatoons up here

Picking gherkins and snow peas. Finally have 2 tomatoes turning orange.
Other than Neem oil what else is there for aphids? They are in my peppers and fighting them hard.

Sixmile. I've tried it nothing happened and it used to work well. Tried malathion and nothing really happened. I've got yellow sticky cards up all over inside the greenhouse. Went through a pint of Neem oil so far. Just bought more today.
Won't be planting back inside next season. Going to nuke the crap out of the ground when I'm done this fall and let it sit fallow for a year. Maybe that'll help.

made zucchini loaves #7, 8, 9 last night. picked 2 more so enough for 3 more loaves and that will be it. 1 loaf a month is plenty. Blanched some potatoes I pulled from the garden, frozen and then put into vacuum bags. I have 2 more grow bags to process and the potatoes will be finished. Picked a gallon of green beans tonight along with about a dozen banana peppers that I'll pressure can shortly.

You guys are so far ahead of me.
Nice looking pickles.
I have a salsa recipe that we really like and a great dill pickle recipe. I make a sweet type pickle called Lime pickles. So much better than regular Sweet pickles you buy. They are crispy and crunchy.
I do have to make dills this year for sure.

Spray them off with your water hose even that pressure they don't survive. Spinosad is an organic option that is effective as well

JShane, been doing the water spraying. This is a bad case of them. I bought some concentrate Neem oil yesterday mixed a a heavy batch and they are looking better today. I'll start spraying the ground each time I spray the peppers and maybe get it under control. I'll look for the Spinodsad if the Neem isn't enough.

Been impossible staying ahead of the weeds this year, and then we were gone for a week. Garden is finally starting to come around. That early June frost really put a damper on things. Peas and beans are going to be light, but the tomatoes have bounced back and the onions, cabbages and peppers all look really good.
TBD on pumpkins, squash and gourds, but here’s hoping!

My wife has made every possible thing existing on earth that can be made with zucchini. I am zucchinied out!!!!

How do you keep demonic squirrel from destroying your corn. I have electric fence, cardboard dog silhouettes, fake owls, talk radio playing in barn, rat traps with peanut butter, moth balls. Everything works for 1 day
