2025 Garden!

May has been cooler than April with more rain so far. Everything's still coming along great. Peas ran out of trellis and they've started collapsing but I need to get okra in those beds anyway so I'll let them go for another harvest or so then cut em down. Lettuce is starting to bolt. Tomato plants are looking healthy. Squash is growing well too. 20250510_112355.jpg

Insulation that I put around the garlic and strawberries last fall because I lost the outer 6-8" of each bed the winter before. Worked fine, full beds this spring. Onion harvest from last summer and lower garlic production from freezing over the winter. Garden shed I built last year. Pretty much just finished planting everything today, just have the tomatoes in the greenhouse still. Hopefully we are past our last freeze, fingers crossed. We had a hard freeze last June 16th! Planted tomatoes three times last year.

Still cutting some asparagus. Have to water the flowers daily waiting for rain and the wind just won't stop! @Nick87 get that dust storm yesterday? Missed me but got blasted hard in the afternoon trying to mow. Almost couldn't stand up!

Wind and dust were brutal. What a difference from yesterday to today.

Strawberries are getting going here. Got 3 yesterday, hand full today.
Buttercrunch lettuce Caesar salad with dinner tonight, and a bowl of strawberries for dessert.
Some days it seems worth the hundreds I spend on a garden to save on produce.
😆

Peas, carrots and beets planted yesterday. Some more stuff to plant in a week or so when the soil warms a bit more

Just makes us kind of proud when we can look at dinner on our plates and see that we have either harvested or grown the food. Garden vegetables taste so much better than any store bought veggies.
