Your favorite Cover Song of all time

Ok, getting back to the theme here. For extra credit, Rita was married to a famous musician/actor...

"We’re All Alone" was written and recorded by Boz Scaggs in 1976. Frankie Valli covered it that same year, but in 1977, this beautiful artist turned it into an international hit.

Somebody already posted one from Mike Ness/Social D, that whole album is amazing, as is their cover of Ring of Fire, so I'll go to some less known stuff.

Did you know the lyric “alligator lizards in the air” came from cloud shapes the songwriter saw in 1963 near Vandenberg AFB, while stopped on the roadside and spotting a Ventura road sign?

I didn't read the entire thread to see if anyone posted this yet, but as a xennial getting into my vibe with music in the 90s here's my two favorite covers:

Remembering the great Glenn Frey, co-lead vocalist and co-founder of the Eagles, on the 10th anniversary of his passing
A fearless farewell anthem that still flies free.

Did you know this is declared the second most-played song on U.S. radio and TV of the entire 20th century? This 1967 sunshine pop hit is smooth as silk. Written by American siblings Don and Dick Addrisi, it became an instant classic.
f course, it's "Never My Love" by The Association with Jim Yester on the keyboard and Ted Bluechel on drums and Terry Kirkman on vocals and Larry Ramos on guitar and vocals in the background. Larry used to introduce this song in concerts saying if he had a nickel for every time someone told him they got "lucky" to this song, he'd be a billionaire. And the band STILL performs this song with all the passion and verve of almost 60 years ago.
