I'm looking to go next year (2012) to Wyoming on an antelope hunt with a couple of guys and am now starting to research it. Everyone will have at least one preference point and we're looking for areas with good public access. Can anyone provide me with information or advice about Units 22, 23, 30, 32, or 69? On first glance these are few of the areas I believe we would be most interested. Any advice/info would be appreciated.

Save your point and don't list unit 30 with your first choice. It can be drawn as a third choice. Even today, there are 275 tags left. There are some walk in areas and HMAs to gain access to. The local chamber of commerce also lists landowner's names and phone numbers for hunters to call to see about access.

Unit 32 is a fun unit with a good percentage of public land available and several good HMAs to get permission from. My friends and I had tags in that unit last year and all tags were filled by the second day. One of us shot one with horns just over 16" long but the typical size you'll find there are around 13" depending on how hard you look. All our bucks scored over 74". Last year was a good year.

I haven't been to the other areas but look into the HMA program Wyoming offers. There could be some good times to be had there too. You should check the game and fish website to research the HMA and walk in opportunity. They also have a nice hunting guide that tells you the percentage of public land per unit per species.

Good luck. Its a great state to visit and hunt in.

no problem John. Did you find any good water sources that werent' dry down at Commanche? Ill be down that way in a couple of weeks to chase antelope. Cant wait to see pics of what you get!

Thats a hell of a link Wyoming 556. I havent found that one. its a real starter for anyone jsut starting to look for areas and success. It would be nice if all the state done that. they have maps and data but that one is a good quick reference and a lot of other extras Thanks.

here is a map that might help.

just choose antelope at the top and this will show you the units, public land%, and harvest success rates.

Utah better hope that OU and OSU don't go to the PAC. It will be interesting to see if they are one of the best 3-4 teams in the PAC conference this year or if they are middle of the road or worse..

That link is nice.

You and me both about UT in the PAC12. OU and OSU leaving the Big12? Wouldn't that shake things up. IMO, OU was tougher in the Switzer era when they went up against Miami each year around thanksgiving..those were good times.
