Can anyone explain why so many more people seem to apply for G every year over region H deer?
I can see the amount of wilderness in H deterring non-residents, but that should be an advantage to residents.
Is the access the deciding factor?

Have pondered this for awhile, but recently it is even more baffling with the tag cuts.
The success and trophy potential seem to be similar.

You can't shoot a deer from your 4 wheeler in most of H.

I think G is just closer to Utah and it has nostalgia.

According to all the hype, G must have something special.
But, maybe that's what keeps em going for G.

I've never deer hunted either (have hunted cows/antelope). A lot of guys have posted about and are researching Region H the last couple years. Check Rokslide, here and Monster Muleys. I would guess that it has similar genetics and good bucks. I would guess it also still has grizzly bears in parts.

But the draw odds for Region H aren't that great either.

Draw odds for H are way better than G.
Looks similar in terrain and trophy potential.

Maybe I'll give it a go in H in a few years, after I build some points.
Guess I'll find out for myself one way or another.

I agree. Guaranteed tag this year with 2 points in the NR Special PP draw. Looks like you need about 5.5 points in the NR Special PP draw for Region G.
