I’d second mt Rushmore you can spend a week there with your kids doing different stuff every day it’s a super cool area.

The only problem is every place you stop it’s $80+ for the family to get in. But man there’s a ton to do down there

I drew a Unit 100, Type 1 elk tag.

I'm still in shock. First try. I haven't even researched the unit. I have been planning a hunt on my resident General tag.

I would gladly welcome any advice. I was just hoping to stalk a decent branch antlered bull deep in a General unit this year. Now I could be looking at an actual wall-hanger.

Looking at the leftover reduced tags...my question is this. There at type 6 tags available and the WYG&F website just says that its *difficult public access but from what i have read on various sites is that type 6 is restricted to private land only. Is this the case?

No. Depends on unit but Type 6 does not mean private land only. Read the description for the unit and the Type 6 boundaries.
