Wyoming Draw Results 2026

Friend of mine that moved to Elk Mountain said to come out and elk hunt with him. Only thing on the leftover list was the next unit over. Oh well.

Creep was definitely real this year. I didn’t apply but checked out the draw odds. My 14 points this year would’ve got me less than my 13 points last year. I’m guessing my 15 next year will get me even less.

I’m at the point where I’m wondering what the best value for my points will be. Draw a great unit for myself or keep waiting to share with my 9 and 7 year old kids on a low end unit in 5 years.
I dont have as many as you built up I just burned t hem like 4 years ago. But im in the same boat. Boys amd I will have to get lucky in random I guess.

I’m starting to wonder if I’m better off just playing the random in the special rather than buying points. Some of these units will cost more to buy points til I can get a regular tag.

Blows my mind seeing how many points some people burned to ensure they got drawn. I always wonder if they’ve just been building points to ensure they can go when the time finally comes or if they made a mistake. Good for them, but burning 12 points on hunts that are guaranteed draws with 2 or 3 would be tough pill for me. Looking at the numbers makes me think there was definitely some people cashing out this year. Who knows. I’m just grateful to have drawn

When I see high points used on low point units, I assume they are going through an outfitter.

Both the doe pronghorn tags I drew actually had their draw odds increase this year, from ~25% to ~30-35%. Only one hunt area had an increase in tags.

It would be fun to see the point breakdown by age demographic. Are baby boomers hanging on to points? Will the 2 year rule start eliminating folks that age out without drawing a hunt? It would suck to save up points for 10...15+ years and then die before you can use them.

I think for some it's just a game...stack points and bitch about not hunting.
A lot of people only get a limited amount of time or draw something else. Or in wyoming in particular save them to split with kids or grandkids. At least all of those apply to me in some fashion. I'm not bitching about not hunting though either so maybe I'm not included in that group.

With the amount of points it's starting to take, even splitting will be tough.
