WyoDoug Speedgoat Hunt

Getting ready for two day speed goat hunt. Landowner who I have become friends with contacted me and advised me that a nice buck and two other not as nice but respectable bucks have been hanging in his pasture. I will be out tomorrow to try and initiate a stalk and take the best buck as first choice but my plans are to tag out tomorrow or Wednesday. Most of the roadies should be gone so I can actually scope from the roads without attracting attention of someone with the gall to ask me if I was seeing anything or just scoping and then ruin my stalk by chasing after what I was looking at.

Doug you must be doing something right if you have local landowners calling you about bucks. Best of luck pard!
Part of it is I have family roots in the area dating back to the Great Depression era and some of the landowners know it. On top of that, I spend time visiting them both at Soda Fountain in town and when I see them on the road. I greet people when I am eating in town and try to start conversation with them that hopefully yields hints I can use to my advantage. I also sometimes carry fence repair tools and fix fences, mailboxes and gates that hunters have damaged at my own expense. I don't wanna lose hunting access due to some asshole that can't respect property.

Well came home and decided to wait to go out again for a bit. Got news that one of my favorite uncles that I was VERY close to has went into hospice. He has had a series of bowel obstructions and got pneumonia last visit to hospital and is basically giving up. I had two bowel obstructions myself so it scares me too to think about how serious it is and the fact that just one of them can kill you. Anyhow, family issues like this are way more important than hunting.

I did see several sizeable herds of antelope but they were too open and too spooked and hard to initiate a stalk on. Going to try and get back out one more day before season ends on Oct 14th but with what I know got going on the family side is again the most important issue at the moment.

Good for you doing that man.

I'm sorry to hear about your Uncle, you're right, family is far more important.

Well now I feel like Randy did with Uncle Larry. I knew this was coming but got the notification that my uncle passed away this morning. Still hard to digest that kind of news. He was one of my main hunting partners growing up on the farm. Semper Fi Uncle Johnie.
