World Cup 2026 starting today

England - Argentina is arguably the biggest rivalry in international sport. Heck, those two countries have had a literal (small) war against one another. Glad to see them go at it again.

I think I mentioned this last World Cup, but 20 year old me was in London on June 7, 2002 watching England win the game last time they met in a competitive match. Atmosphere throughout entire city was absolutely electric. At some point I ended up on one of the lions in Trafalgar Square. Made a lot of friends that day.

I’ll be cheering for “les rosbifs” in this one.

Was the Embolo second yellow card legit? It looked to me that he was fishing to draw the penalty on Paredes. He got caught.
Seemed the right call to me.
I think that if he had just gone over, and not embellished with the death throe roll, he'd have been forgiven. But he dove to get a yellow on the Argentine, and that raised the stakes. Once the yellow went out, it was not going back into the pocket without a new name on it. If Embolo had just dodged the contact, woulda been no foul and now yellow. He deserved it.

Picked up the rental car at the bustling airport that is Casper/Natrona and went to Buffalo Wild Wings for a sandwich and big screen tv to watch England v Norway. After shopping at Sam’s for several cookie trays I should be arriving at Buffalo just in time for Argentina game. (I am not allowed to even utter any Argentina opponents name or I will have to face
My daughter in law’s wrath.
If your still in Buffalo, i recommend "the lounge" for watching. Big tvs, big comfy chairs. Tell Leslie Bob and Sheila said "hi", shes the bartender and is awesome

Info tucked away for another day.

Destination was TenSleep for a funeral. I was meeting my brother and family for a morning drive over the top. Turned off on Hazleton Rd and about halfway down to Stockman (dry farm) road had a tire sliced open.

But I did get to see almost the entire early game, and the second half of the second game.

Vamos vamos vamos (keep the daughter in law happy)

PS (sorry Richard, I’d pull for England otherwise )
