CO - as much I don't like my state anymore, has given me some good tags. A couple of bighorn tags, bull moose and the have snagged a hundred+ years of tags off of the leftover/reissue list - Yeah I know the leftover/reissue tags will go away, but it has been great while it lasted.
I'm annoyed with AZ, I have drawn two antelope tags in first 5 years of trying and now I can't draw any tag and am one of those dummies with 30 NR points trying to get an early bull tag- which I statically will if live a few more years or they don't change the system again.

Didn't read all the replies but willing to bet I'm the only guy who would say Texas.

Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico have all been good to me but certainly not disproportionately. Have drawn some good tags in Wyoming but always with points never in the random excluding cow/doe tags. Colorado is a similar story some fun tags but never been surprised by drawing a tag with less points then expected and have not drawn due to creep a few times. New Mexico has given me 4 tags in less then a decade but all 3rd choice difficult to fill deer tags. I've only been applying for AZ about 3 years with no luck so far. Have a few points in Montana for some possible hunts in the future but have never actually applied just bought points. South Dakota has been disproportionately bad to me🤣. I will have 9 points for most categories excluding turkey (only a couple there) and have been actively applying for bison, pronghorn, WRD, and BHD every year and can't even draw a BH whitetail tag. In full disclosure with how late SD draws are many years my fall is busy already by the time they roll around. So the last couple years I only apply for any deer not whitetail tags dropping the odds astronomically. But I remember not drawing BH whitetail with 5 then 6 points two years in a row just bad luck. As for Texas I also started applying for a few hunts 9 years ago as well back then just sheep, exotics, pronghorn, and mule deer. Every year I added a few more hunts to the application and in those 9 years I've drawn 7 hunts. Including a world class auodad hunt, javelina hunt that turned into a elk hunt with desert bighorn in the backdrop, some good deer hunting, a management deer hunt with oryx walking around, and a underwhelming deer and turkey hunt. Headed down in a week for my next adventure hoping to run into a axis deer. With the low odds I've beaten and the quality of some of the hunts it's easy to say Texas has been disproportionately good to this okie.

WY - a handful of golden horseshoes. However, I also played the NoHunt strategy by guessing (correctly) where all the lemmings will and will not apply.

I'm going to say I've been lucky in the Random pool in UT and New Mexico for elk.

UT was a lot of years applying then I "downgraded" my unit choice and drew but still in the Random because i didn't have the points. NM I drew Valle Vidal, first year applying.

I drew a Random Tule elk tag in CA too even though it's my home state. Those odds are like applying out of state for most folks...

Got pulled for an Alaska spring bear hunt the first 2 times applying...had to cancel the second hunt.

Montana I drew a moose tag after 11 points. Not necessarily disproportionate but certain ticked off a few old timers still waiting their turn.
I pissed off some old timers (like me) when I drew my 2nd moose tag here in Wyoming.

Utah.

But I'm out now. Not going to pay their prices anymore.

$190 for the licence and then $15 for an app fee. It used to be $80 with a $10 App fee

  • Drew LE elk back when it was $800 and now it is $1,950.
  • Drew Swan multiple times when it was just the App fee, now it is $195 + the app fee.
  • Drew Turkey back when it was $80 and now it is $175.
  • Drew Cow Elk Multiple times when it was ~290 now it is $649.
  • Deer general deer multiple times when it was ~$300 and now it is $599.
  • Drew Doe Pronghorn when it was ~$65 and now it is $236.

98 current points than are all going to go down the drain, but I am ok with it.

Could draw a muzzle or archery pronghorn next year, but not going to pay $571 for it especially since I live in Wyoming.

The only thing that sucks is that I have friends, I would like to hunt with in Utah.

The hunts were not as great as Wyoming, but at the lower prices I could justify it.

Not anymore.
The Dude Does NOT Abide, apparently... LOL

You only die and live once you know. Use the antelope points at least...if already on top of points pile for it.

Hard to say, but UT has been pretty good to me:

Bear, Deer, Antelope and Elk as a nonres

I guess my home state, Colo, has been disproportionately good to me

The following drawn Colo tags one can never bank on drawing no matter how many points you have.
3 ram tags, one ewe tag
4 Moose tags (1 bull)
2 mtn goat tags
100-years-worth of preference point tags picked up on reissue list including 3 great elk tags, some Antelope and deer.

A couple lottery odds NM elk tags and a lottery odds antelope tag.
