OK funny story about old calls
yrs ago IM archery hunting in Idaho with a guide we were sitting on a dead fall surrounded by a bunch of small pines taking a load off and eating after working bulls in the morning
Hes going through his pack looking for something and finds an old Larry Jones cow call it was a reed pulled through 2 pieces of plastic kinda looked like a harmonica
He blows on it a few times and said hell I never liked the way this thing sounded as the words came out of him mouth a rag horn exploded from behind us through the pines trees scares the crap out of us . It saw us locks it up and exploded out of their fast
Laughing my ass off all I could say was well I think he liked the way it sounded

Those flutes were the only choice back in the '60s. One or two tones only. Remember it chased my dog out of the room the first I used it.
