WHEN WILL IT END???????? I'll be so glad for 11/04

You can support Trump's bombing of Iran, favor a more aggressive defense policy, and believe in old school military standards, but any sane person should conclude that Pete Hegseth is not the right person to lead the Pentagon. He is not a competent or serious person. He would get on all fours and bark like a doggie if Trump asked him to.

Just compare Jim Mattis to Pete Hegseth and realize how much higher the bar should be.

Pete Hegseth acts how he thinks a "masculine alpha military leader" should act which is the complete opposite of what military leaders should be; silent and composed professionals who can absolutely destroy you while maintaining proper decorum. Real leaders don't need to remind everyone who's in charge and are capable of imparting legitimate change and projecting strength without making fools out of themselves. That is the actual problem. He's not a leader, he divides and makes a fool out of himself. He's a typical shyt leader who confuses leadership with loudership. He believes "acting hard" means you're competent.

The military is filled with power tripping guys like Hegseth who think being a loud azzhole who treats the troops like crap means they're "hard as nails". I'm convinced he was absolutely hated by his peers and troops when he was in the military. These guys normally don't make it above tactical level commands and there's a very good reason for that. Having served in combat and being a veteran doesn't make you a good and competent person, heck, I fit that description and I'm kind of an azzhole...

It is very concerning to me that newly elected Democrats are already posting on social media they will be opening investigations and impeachment proceedings on their adversaries. 2 years ago the republicans did it, now the democrats are going to do it, in 2 more years whoever the winning party is will do it again. In the history of the United States there has only been 3 Presidents impeached and none have been removed from office. 2 of them have been in last 30 years. James Madison had a quote "If tyranny and opprsession come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign war."

Thomas Massie opened the articles of impeachment before the senate went on recess. They had 2 weeks to reply if they were still in session. The delegates were sent to recess "to campaign" 2 days before the deadline to respond to the articles of impeachment. Massie is an R and he was going after an R, but there wasn't much squable from the D's either.

I'm on the other side. I would be concerned if they didn't do investigations. Lots of them. The amount of corruption in this administration is incredible and obvious: Money for pardons, no-bid contracts (for crappy work I must add), private RE deals with mid East countries by unconfirmed diplomats who are also family members. Not to mention pump-n-dump on crypto coin and front running trading on policy decisions. The American people need to know, or at least given no excuse for not knowing. The same argument can be made now that was made after Nixon pardon, if there are no consequences, you make it more likely to happen in the future. If they didn't drag their feet in 2021, everyone would see the evidence that Trump tried (or didn't, YOMV) to stop the peaceful transfer of power and we might not be in this mess. Different mess, sure, but not this one.

It was mentioned that the threat of investigations of the family might get Trump to not veto some things. that would probably work, but I don't like it because it is simply a lighter form of corruption. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

IMO only Republicans can fix this. Do I think they realized their mistake and that people like Paxton, Ramaswamy and Trump are a disgrace to the party and its foundational ideals? Or do I think they voted, or didn't vote, because they were angry about gas prices? I'm skeptical it's the former. Any "moderation" of candidates is going to be a long and painful process.

If you've been following along for the past decades, what did the investigations accomplish? Convictions or it didn't happen.

Congress can only refer for prosecution. Unless they control DOJ, nothing will happen. Should be a waste of time since the Ds don't control the DOJ like they did previously.

Of course, if you are into it so your party can fundraise on the topics ... party on. ;)
