What to do: dealing with a a-hole

I’ve suggested this before for a similar confrontation, and it wasn’t taken seriously then, but hear me out. Picture this:

It is early.
It is dark.
Your guy’s truck is already parked at the spot when you arrive.
You walk to your stand, climb up, and get settled in the stillness of the dark before first light.
Your guy is out there, somewhere nearby in his own stand. You can feel him out there, and he can feel you. Two ghosts floating silently in the darkness.
Before the first birdsong starts, before any light at all, you unstrap your 2200W Watt boombox from your pack, slowly turn the knob to 11, and send out these vibes:

Wait for dawn and whatever the day brings.

right, no real regs for stands/cams; most hunters will give space to the current stand and move on; but there are definitely the types that if they've hunted it for so many years, they think its their land.
I'm starting to think he just wants me out of his area; I did catch a pic of him earlier this year on a different camera, he's an older guy, so he may have been hunting here for "25 years!" how dare someone move in onto this property
Oh hell if he's that old just whip his ass

All the posts earlier in the week about hank being a nice helpful guy and hank says” hold my beer”!!! I laughed out loud when I read this!
Well, for the 1st time in my life I am not wearing a badge or under the oath, having to check my reactions every second....free.
In all fairness I would not be parked any were near other vehicles these days. I just go elsewhere. I also don't stand hunt.
And the last two aholes who drove all over the place during my hunt got away with it after being reported.

Hunt it. HE might be done, he left a bloody knock, maybe his tag if filled so you have no more competition.

I know exactly how you feel Hank!

Just remember those guys that fought in Vietnam are way more bad ass than most guys today. Don’t ever pick a fight with a old guy. He little to loose and you may just be another notch in his Kbar.
This * 1000. Never fight a fighting man who's too old to fight. He might just pull a .44. As far as the story about the mass shooting involving the Hmong guy, best not to mess with guys that took on the NVA with crossbows.

I hate how hunting brings out the worst in people. (Not talking about you or any of the other very humorous suggestions in this hilarious thread) These type conflicts are the reason many places have it illegal to leave stands on public land. You couldn’t find his stand because he is probably doing the hang and hunt thing, saddle hunting, etc. and not leaving anything out there, which is likely part of the reason he resents you leaving yours. Your stand being left there gives the impression of claiming a spot as your own making others feel as if they shouldn’t be there when you all have equal right to the place.

As far as what to do my $.02 is I would just try to ignore the guy and go hunt. If he sees you in person and harasses you call the warden. Hunter harassment laws can be used against non-hunters and hunters alike. If you get to your tree without conflict climb on up and enjoy the mornin. In the end he most likely doesn’t want his hunt messed up any more than you so if you aren’t set up where you can see each other you can likely go about your business with no conflict, just know leaving your stuff invites all sorts of trouble.

I'd move on. Not worth the trouble.

I hunted hard the same spot for archery and the first few days of rifle elk this year without seeing anyone in the woods. Two greasy skids showed up the first Saturday of rifle season after I'd been there early, set up and ready to go. After a few words with them I quickly realized they were both a-holes and didn't care if I was already there. I packed up my stuff and went to a different spot. Again, not worth the trouble.
Pretty pretty please, tell me they were Degens from Upcountry.

Please, just this once.

Not that I know of, but it Would be best to contact local Game Warden. In my area the game warden will actually come take down your stand and leave you a note to contact them if they get reports of stands on public.
WMA's and WPA's have different rules and yes you are right in which you can not leave them overnight; state forests you can leave portables, hell you can still build permanents in alot of state forests; our city rules say to follow state and county rules. The only county rule is no building of permanent stands. As for all stands left on public land, anyone can use them, but you cannot steal them

Man that is rough - pretty much a dick move but probably best bet is to just move on. You could definitely try to get to your spot early and hunt it as well.

Bloodied Nock - does that mean he is done for the season or is it likely he has multiple tags?
multiple deer tags, so he'll probably be back, best I can hope for now is he was solely using my stand and when he gets out there some morning between now and the end of the rut, he'll be missing something..

Find out who he is, where he works, and get his mom's phone number and her facebook. Then troll him until you get banned from the internet.

Or just pull @Moosie and send gay porn to all his neighbors with his name on it.
Bad news, I dont have any social media platform besides hunt talk and in depth outdoors, and I am under the age of 40...

The only time I've had someone mess with my cams in the woods (all public land) was pulling my SD cards out of 2 cams. I figured there must have been something good on them if they did that. :D

I don't know but one of them kept making pig squeals...

I’m not advocating this by any means, but that dude could get his valve stems yanked out real quick if he kept acting that way.
Just take the center piece out, wait until it's flat and put it back in. He'd really be wondering then and there's be no destruction of property. Do it to 2 of them just to make things difficult. Then leave the bloody nock on the tire.

Definitely calling a warden or sheriff. Bloody arrow is definitely a threat. I have no patience for that. Since he can’t meet you face to face or answer you he is definitely a coward
