Just finished a very boring but effective hunting load.

.308 win,
44.5 grains varget,
165 grain hornady interlock,
Federal brass
Ginex LR primer
2700 fps average (22” barrel)

Can’t get it to shoot over an inch at 100, so I will keep using it I guess.

Got 250 shiny new piece of 30-30 in the mail today. Just resized them all in a 7-30 die and tomorrow I’ll load up 100 or so.

Yes, they seat fine but are tight. I use a hand primer and it tires you out for sure.

Hard to beat a bolt action .223 with a can for just plain fun shooting.

I’m following for results!

High average (10-shots) of 2966fps with an SD of 10 but showing pressure. Hunting load will run 2949fps with a 7.7 SD.

I’ll post a longer write up in my .338-06 thread.

Back to basics.
On the bench is 25-06 rem stuff. Retumbo, 108gr Apex Afterburners, remington 9 1/2 primers

Starting load dev for a .22-250 with 77 gr TMK and H4350. Will do the usual of load a string to find pressure, back off a grain or so, and shoot a 10 shot group. If it shoots, cool. If not, I’ll try dropping another .5 grain.

May try some 80 gr ELDm as well.

My new 300 win mag shoots 200gr Partitions
with 78 gr of H-1000 .5 inch moa all day. Loaded up 40 of those today for hunting season. Also started load development on 180 gr Accubonds for the same rifle.

Too hot to shoot or do much else outside so I cranked out 100 38-55 245 PC RN Missouri bullet co, IMR 4895 34.5. A proven load for my Marlin CB, dang fun gun to shoot. I need to get back to loading for a Custom Savage 308 Win with a 1-8.5" bull barrel. I have shot some great loads with Speer deep impact 172. I might try Deep Curl 165, have a couple hundred to play with. I read they build pressure quick so I will start low. Wish me luck.
