That was the last good monsoon season in Aug. 4 years or so ago.
Mostly Gramma grass & rabbitbrush. Shortgrass prairie here. A wholebunch of wildflowers too that year.
In '10 the grass got a foot tall & wildflowers waist deep.ranch 044.jpgranch 049.jpgThis is 10' after monsoons & this is the year before in same streambed & tank near an old homestead windmillranch etc early 439.jpg

We’ve been watching nature unfold as per usual this spring. Canada geese goslings start as four, down to three while in fuzzball stage, then the all grey and soon-to-feather goslings were down to two this Monday midday, after seeing three first thing in the morning.

Perhaps we’ve discovered the culprit….IMG_5397.png

From my office window. Not really picturesque, but if you squint really hard you can see the Rockies on the horizon. And no, thats not my Kia.

I looked out the window to see a Canada goose bobbing for (hedge)apples!

Multiple hedgeapples are laying on a steep slope, with many of them rolling into the stream (concrete banks are to prevent erosion). The pool level of the stream is down about 8 inches as a muskrat has created an alternate pathway past the infinity edge on the downstream side.

There was a fox squirrel out enjoying the sun and a snack as well.
