Id like an anonymous vote on how many of us use services created by data centers. Im thinking around 100%

Also, Montanans: If you are at all concerned about privacy and state or corporate surveillance - the state Senator that I mentioned in post 89 is actually on top of the issue. Fortunately, most legislation he introduces on the subject passes with bipartisan support. I’d say he’s a major reason why Montana is a dark spot on those Flock maps.

That's just not how those developments work. You almost categorically can't stop them because they come with enough money to check all the boxes, meet all the demands, provide everything you ask of them. And if you simply say, "no" they'll sue. Because it's discrimination to allow everything from cancer factories ( Bayer) to pig farms, but not allow data centers. We've been working "with" them for 7 years. Mostly against our will.

Although it is happening, and there is a website for that outrage as well. To your point, it doesn't matter if one state or county blocks it and it gets built in the next county or state. My point was we should care about what happens to the data. We aren't going to stop it from being amassed. It doesn't matter if it is a Flock camera or some other brand.

A Handful of foolish and easily fooled local governments have granted NDA's to data centers being considered in my state.

Royally PO'd locals and helped start a statewide backlash.

My experience seams to be. Someone proposes a mountain with the actual intention of building a hill. That way when it gets beat down to a hill the opposition is happy and feels like the millions spent accomplished something and the original mountain proposer is happy because they got what they wanted all along. Endless cycle. Billions spent. Politicians get to show they stood up for the little guy. Name the organizations and politicians. 90% fall into that category. On both sides of the isle. They all suck.
