Ukraine / Russia

What's now sad about this is that been revealed Moscow and Kyiv had a deal in place but the Boris Johnston stepped in and stopped it. The deal was Russia would withdraw to its position on February 23, when it controlled part of the Donbas region and all of Crimea, and in exchange, Ukraine would promise not to seek NATO membership and instead receive security guarantees from a number of countries. The Washington and London warhawks got the fight they wanted. Zelensky now will probably get the same about of US taxpayers dollars as Israel gets.

instead receive security guarantees from a number of countries.
Humor within this idea...

Leave NATO thoughts in the dust to receive Russian defined "security guarantees" from a number of countries...

Interesting. Boris kinda nailed this... Back pre-invasion of Ukraine.

"Western nations have accused Russia of trying to stage a fake crisis on Ukraine's border, warning in recent weeks Mr Putin's forces could be preparing to invade at any time.

But Russia has denied the claims, saying the massed troops are just conducting military exercises.

Asked whether a Russian invasion was still thought to be imminent, Mr Johnson said: "I'm afraid that that is what the evidence points to. There's no burnishing it."
"

Hey though - Ukraine should receive a guarantee if no further NATO intent... Laughable.

And a thread completely based on politics and the such. No hunting content whatsoever. Haha. And no lock!!! Congrats hunt talkers. Apparently there is a way to even agree to disagree without the hammer being dropped. 🤣🤣
Yep. This thread goes on, as it should. But then on other threads the people that don't agree start talking about cheese. Or something other than hunting. Deflection. Whatever. mtmuley

Yep and all of Europe is at the mercy of Russia for energy. China just started using the Ruble for fuel purchases like Russia wanted. China and Russia are clearly forming an alliance, which Europe will be forced to join if they ever want energy again......unless they decide to take it from Russia which in that case bring on WW3.

We will see how committed Europe is this winter. Lol Maybe if they say “puck Futin”loud and often enough that’ll keep them warm.
  • European gas price up about 400% on a year ago
  • EU states race to support struggling power firms
  • Disruptions hinder EU efforts to fill storage
  • EU says Moscow weaponised gas, Russia blames sanctions

Hey buddy. Going to admit you were wrong (no, wait, you lied) about the Highland Park shooter?

JK, I know you have me blocked.

Dumb ideas have unintended yet predictable consequences.

"Natural gas prices in Europe have soared by some 400% over the past year. The crunch actually started this time last year and the Ukraine events from this year only served to severely aggravate an already bad situation."

Not sure how it’s like a Ponzi scheme. It’s a bad economic policy because it doesn’t make demand fall to where it should be, but the use of the label Ponzi scheme is just meant to get people worked up.

Us nat gas prices have also increased nearly 400%.
Production of three new LNG facilities in US has begun. Won’t help for 2-3 yrs but it’s good to see things that usually get caught up in red-tape allowed to move forward.
Germany will extend planned life of nuclear and burn more coal. Not great for global warming but it’s either that or let a Russian madman hold the World hostage every time he wants to distract the average Russian citizen from how bad the Russian economy is.

It’s going to be an interesting fall/winter. We will see how much since WWII the developed world has all turned into marshmallows and lost our willingness to endure pain in the name of doing what is right.

The ponzi scheme is where you tax the energy companies "windfall profits", then distribute the tax proceeds to the consumer as a rebate for the higher utility rates, and then have to bailout the the utility companies that are on the verge of bankruptcy.

Stupidity like this is what gave Putin the idea that he could get away with the Ukraine invasion in the first place.
