Trump’s Quietly Working to Give Part of Yosemite to a Private Developer
The National Park Service is under pressure to make an unprecedented deal that cedes a quarter-mile strip of the park.

My take on this is that it is a proposed land swap. I cannot think of one good reason why it is in the public interest to trade away a part of Yosemite. This is a nakedly obvious proposed trade to enrich a land developer.Fake news. The article doesn't even support the title.
They said it was untrue.A good article that goes into further review of the allegation,
Fwiw, there are vendors all over parks/national forests as well as private property.Wait until you guys go to yellow stone and find out every single accomodation is operated by private contractors who make their own rules.
Sure areFwiw, there are vendors all over parks/national forests as well as private property.
AFAIK, all ski areas are privately run.
They’re operating campgrounds and lodges that are on federal land that were generally built by the NPS long ago. Not private property.Wait until you guys go to yellow stone and find out every single accomodation is operated by private contractors who make their own rules.
Try going onto one of those campgrounds when they are full of reservations with only 3 sites used to simply look at what is open, you will understand why i say they run it like private land. They’re operating campgrounds and lodges that are on federal land that were generally built by the NPS long ago. Not private property.
And they definitely don’t make their own rules. They are operating on contracts that are put out for bid on average every 10 years.
There are NPS employees that oversee the contracts, do multiple assessments a season, and hold them accountable to the contracts that are signed when they win the bid.
Not at all comparable to running a private sector business on your own property. Nor is it comparable to buying a property surrounded by a National Park and then trying to build a new road through a National Park.
Not sure what you’re trying to say.Try going onto one of those campgrounds when they are full of reservations with only 3 sites used to simply look at what is open, you will understand why i say they run it like private land.
I believe the authority to give away or trade public lands rests with Congress alone, and that the President does not have the power to make those decisions independently.![]()
