Last week, while out shed hunting, I ran into a herd of Elk so big, it was hard to get a head count. I came up with about 69 head. This evening, a herd, possibly the same one, (?) showed up near our ranch. We sat in the house and watched them come off a ridge, down into the meadow, but they'd get nervous and go back, come back down again and repeat this about 4 times or so. Hard to get a head count, but this may be the same band, so that would be about right in numbers. The fence line in the foreground is our pasture boundary. Our horses, mule and burro went down to let them know where their domain was. At least 3 Bulls were still wearing their spikes. I got a lot of good video, but can't post it on here.
Anyway, nice to sit in your hot tub and watch a herd of Elk walking down your fence line. One of the perks of living here!
