The official 2025 Wyoming elk hunt for Dave N thread.

Well, we glassed everything available to us near the cabin. Just the 3 moose. I have friend to see tomorrow while I’m out here. Dave and Greg have a plan to try in the AM. If that is a bust then we are pulling stakes. @Dan-06 has offered to help show us around his stomping grounds. Easier territory and more Dave friendly. So we will spend the rest of season down in unit 28 chasing cow elk.

Then I will scour area 61 for a 80” buck. I have till the 31st to try and meet that goal. Looks like I will need all of that 40 gallon fuel tank. A whole lot of nothing out in that area.

Looks like tough going Dave but I’m pulling for you! Sounds like the pressure up there was pretty fierce and the elk relocated into the nasty stuff. Hope the new plan yields fruit.

Just drove the boundary of unit 28 and 25 and there was a ton of hunters with side by sides. Bring a side-by-side or have access to a side-by-side if you're going to go that direction.

@Wildabeest and I had made plans to run down and check out the pivot and try to catch something heading up from there. Well, we overslept and got a late start. Got down there and did some glassing along with the rest of the vehicles. Got set up in one spot and damned if I didn't find some! I was just getting the spottter set up when we were visited by the nice guy from fish and game. Of course I stopped looking at that point so I lost them, but he told us that section up top was all private. The landowner there had a poaching yesterday and his family was also out hunting. We had his phone number but with others out there it was a lost cause. We asked him for advice and he really didn't have any. He DID give Greg a pen to sign his tag! :ROFLMAO: From there we drove back up to the ridge and looked around. Lots of others doing the same thing. Covered some territory and finally decided to call it and go let the dog out. Grabbing a bite and I'll give Greg a hand with some things around the compound this afternoon. Get our stuff squared away and packed for the move tomorrow. I'm sure there are ways to kill something here but I was the limiting factor. No way for me to bushwhack in and go for miles going after them. I knew that from the beginning and that is pretty much what needs to be done here.

We'll see what happens in the next spot. Cow only but that's fine with me. Anything is better than nothing and if I end up with nothing I'm gonna be just fine with that too. I was out of the house hunting elk! Lots of people say they want to do it but never do. I mainly wanted to have an adventure and a chance to kill one if I could. Not going to lose any tears if I don't. I'm going to try to make it happen yet so I'm not giving up! The fat lady hasn't started to warm up her voice yet.

Thanks for the tips and suggestions from everyone who contacted us about moving. Appreciate it very much.
