Here’s a twist on the usual annual weight loss thread.

I put on about 18 pounds from Thanksgiving through yesterday. The family is all gone now and the feasting is over.

My youngest son got hired in 2025 as a USPS mail carrier. He is walking never less than 14000 steps a day. He has lost 25 pounds in his first 90 days. He eats whatever he wants.

I am inspired to do the same. I will begin walking my usual 6 mile loop to and around the school section near me. Every day. Rain or shine. I’m not 33, so I doubt I will hit the eat whatever I want zone. How cool would that be.

I will post a photo of my weight on my digital scale on New Year’s Day. I will reply to my own post weekly with my new numbers.

My goal is to be 230lbs by the August 2026 opener. 200-210 by the 2027 opener.

Anyone want to play along?

I’m into it. I’ve been 160-165 since I got my license. I’m now around 185 since the past year.

I’d like to be 170. I’ll post New Years Day and go from there.

Best of luck...pulling for you!

Im not weighing myself. I dont want to know but ill bet I put on 15lbs or more since Thanksgiving myself. Probably closer to 20. So I'd suspect around 200 right now. Like to get back down around 180 again. Was able to stay at that range for the last year and a half but the food the last couple weeks killed me. $*)Q!#@$ sugar cookies!

I started September at 257# I’ve only had this scale for 40 days. Gone full send on finding my old self at 38 I plan on being in the best shape I ever have been by the end of Feb. I think tomorrow morning is gonna be a legit 30# down IMG_5661.jpeg

I am in. I haven't weighed myself lately but am in the 240-245 range, haven't been this heavy since I graduated from college 15 yrs ago (so much beer back then and in 2025). But at least I am in much better shape comparably? In June of 2024 I did a 1/2 marathon with 3,500 ft of elevation gain and finished in the top 50% and was at 230. Pretty good for a fat kid. 2025 was a much rougher year in life and I can find all sorts of excuses. But need to get back into better habits for 2026.

I would like to get back to sub 220 by mid summer. And the recent thread on alcohol was a good reminder for me to work on moderation and I am planning on a dry January. In October I had 4 dry weeks (from alcohol) and I have been thinking a quarterly dry month would be a good thing to do for 2026. I am not the best at moderation, which I think is good in some areas of life. But not food and drink.

I’ve been sitting around 225 most of my adult life. The composition of those pounds has changed a good bit, though.
My wife & I started working out 2-3 times a week in April, and it’s paying off. Not getting any lighter, but stronger and leaner, so I don’t complain too much.

I also keep 10lb weights in my cubicle that I take with me for the mile I walk on my 15min breaks the 3 days a week I’m in the office. That’s more about trying to keep up bone density and healthy tendons/ligaments as I age, though.

Lightest I’ve been in recent memory was September when we got back from Europe. Caught a wicked case of campylobacter in France and was glued to the toilet for 2 weeks. By the end, I was down to 216. Nearly killed me, but at least I was (comparatively) thin! (/s)

I’ll play along. I’ll have a little extra motivation for 22 weeks in 2026. I’m close to 225 now and I hope to be 200 by July.

I lost 45lbs prior to my Cancer treatment last May (230-185). The holidays have not been kind to me and I’m back up to 199. 185 was too skinny but I’d like to stay around 190, so I uploaded the “lose it” app again, which worked for me before.

I’m thinking about changing my work out around in 2026. I’m not real certain how but I’m thinking about more of a high rep full body circuit with lite weights 3 days a week and walking between weight days. I’ll probably be out of town New Year’s Day, but I’ll post a scale picture sometime this week.

Why not. I scaled 211 this morning. No real goal except to lose what I can. I've been stuck here for the longest time. Winter makes it harder for me but I'll try. I know I'd feel better.
