I had posted this originally last fall...but it really didn't get much exposure on here, not like I was hoping, just based on the dilemma that it presented. So I decided to work with one of the new sponsors on here...goHUNT.com and got it published out there in a more public forum.

Interesting write up.

Unfortunately, they can't write laws to cover 100% of situations.

It would be very difficult to keep a finger off the trigger in that situation.

Tough tough call. It would have to be truly suffering but this is what I would do.

I'm recording the person you talked to, then I'm shooting, then I'm quartering, hanging, leaving a note on the game bags, and coming back asap with F&G. Plenty of pictures and video would be taken before, during and after.

Absolute worst case, I'm self employed, a misdemeanor wouldn't get me fired, and I could survive not being able to hunt for a year if privileges were revoked (since we all know poaching repercussions are a slap on the wrist). I would still sleep better. But I think that's a very highly unlikely situation. I think most likely you would win in court.

But I understand for other's, like say Randy, shooting it simply would not be an option nor worth the risk.
