Today was one of the hardest days of my 55 years. We had to let out Daisy girl go and be free of pain. She was our 16 yo golden. She had been with us since we got to CO. I can't go into too much, but I will say she literally saved my life at a point after my last deployment..... she looked into my soul and let me know I had to stay. I knew this was coming but selfishly wanted her to stay. She never complained, never cried and until yesterday ate lived herself. Luckily our doc makes house calls so we were all with her, on her deck with her sweet nose in the breeze to the end. The instant doc gave her meds she eased off. I love you forever Daisy girl.

“It seems a shame that a man and his dog so rarely get the time to spend together that they’d like-doing what they both like best. A man isn’t born to too many gunning seasons, and his dog is offered but a handful or so to spend with him before it’s time to say good-bye…leaving a photograph or so slipped in a favorite book and a memory of special days.” - Gene Hill, “Daisy”

Dang my man. My heart goes out to you and all touched by your special pup. Best of friends, worst of days when it’s time to say goodbye.

It is so hard losing a good one. From the sounds of it you gave her a great life, it just sucks when they leave and take part of you with them. Remember those great times!

I am so, so sorry! A special dog like yours will always have that space in your memories filled with the intangible things that no one can take from you.

Sorry for your loss SFC B. I have a golden that is my shadow. She's a great dog, probably alot like Daisy.

It's always tough, hang in there. I was there a couple years ago.
When you have a great dog, you are blessed to spend that all too short portion of your life with them. In return they give 100% and get you for 100% of their lifetime.
RIP Daisy

So sorry SFC. I sent a pic of my 4 yr old pup to the breeder this week and told them he’s the joy of my life and thanked them for entrusting me with his care. When they go, a piece of you goes with them.

Sorry to hear it. It is incredibly hard being the decision maker
of letting go of a pet. Brighter days ahead, hopefully.

So sorry to hear this but take solace in the fact that you gave her the best life while she was here.

Very sorry to hear. I went 43 years never being attached to a dog even though my parents always had dogs. My wife has had 4 since we’ve been together and one finally got me. She’s only 4 and I stress about how much time we have with her. She goes everywhere with us. Sorry again buddy.

So sorry for your loss. It's truly heartbreaking that they don't live as long as we do. They are are as much family as any person can be. Try to take comfort in all the good memories you shared with her.
