So Buzz, just curious, have you looked at or considered Leica or Zeiss ?

It’s been a long time since I compared Els to SLCs, but I liked the Els enough to justify the cost.

If you get SLCs there might come a day when you wish you had the ELs but if you get Els you will never look back and wish you had the SLCs.

On the other hand, $400 bucks is $400 bucks.

I have the Swaro 10x42 SLC's, but had to use my son's Monarch's on the oryx hunt since most of my hunting gear is still in the old house 100 miles away. I absolutely love the ergos on the SLC's, but I must say that I was most impressed with Spitz's Vortex Vipers. I think that if I was doing it all over, I would forego the Swaro's and get either the Vortex Vipers or Razors. They were so close to the Swaro's that it was unreal. I darn sure couldn't see a $700 difference and their warranty is on par with Swaro's.

I am going to try the Vortex Kaibabs next.

My thoughts are save some money on getting lesser Binos, and put it then where it counts in a spotting scope. That is where you really see the difference in price due to the higher magnification. I have looked through some guys Swaro Spotter (same guy that films himself pissing), and it is really worth the money there

Disagree, your Leup Gold Ring will do just fine. Put the cash into the Swarovski bino's.

why do you think this? Are you saying if you had to choose between a pair of mid range binos or a mid range spotter you would pick the mid range spotter
Binos have come a long way, and you can get some pretty damn nice ones for 500-600 bucks.
