Sunday Pic of the Day

It is whatever type of rattlesnake we have in West Virginia. I moved here deathly afraid of running into one but this is only the third one I have seen in almost 30 years.
Timber rattler. It’s the only rattlesnake native to WVa, and they are often black or grayish in color like the one in the pic. They can also be more brownish.
 
Yeah apparently we have them in MA although they are incredibly rare.
Never saw a rattler growing up in MA. They were identified as inhabiting a local range we used to hike in frequently.
Thought you were relocating to Michigan?
