This year is going to be a bit of the old and a bit of "we'll see". First up, I will be accompanying Redman and guest (another fellow Vet) on their antelope hunt in WY. Will probably pick up a small game license and will be chauffeur d' safari in Jack in October. Then come November I will be making the trip home to hunt at Casa di Redman followed by another trip up to Manitowoc to hang and hunt with bud Kevin. There will probably be an additional Indiana detail to follow..oooooh big secret ;) Look forward to the chill in the air and turning of leaves.

Went to the range today to make sure Freya (22-250) was good with the suppressor. VERY slight shift. 2 groups in exactly in the same spot. One click left and we are good to go. This will be headed to WY with me on a couple of weeks for small game usage and then to IN and WI for doe patrol. Love this gun set up.

Isn’t it great that we can use 22 center fires for deer now?

If you’ll be on the southside, would love to meet up at the Outdoorsman when you’re here.

I'll be up in Flora, hunting Cass county. I will be interested to see how this works out. This rifle shoots so well I hope the VMax performs well on deer. Plus with the can it is ridiculous quiet and zero recoil.

10-4. I think we bought the wood beams for our ceilings from a farm in Flora…

Made it to WY last night, on time, and had some good BBQ at a bar. Got settled into the "cabin" and got some rest. Today was a boring as season starts tomorrow. Got a couple of jours in early and then it rained steady until late afternoon. Only semi useful. Did see a couple of nice bucks early. Made elk chili for the fellas for dinner and going to see what the weather brings in the morning. Really good to be in a camp again, no matter how small.

Still pretty crappy weather today, but we are out chasing Mr Cornchips. The trigger pullers are out on walk about as I type. Saw a couple of fellas through the shooter they wanted to check out. Because of topo I only catch glimpses.

Long day. Weather stayed bad (contrary to forecast) After a lot of boot leather on their part, with watching protectively from the truck,......we call JACKPOT!!! Redman with closes the deal on a nice, funky goat...... due to all the rain extraction was mostly on his and my backs. Got back to the house well after dark, after blood time to sleep. His persistence pays off.

Went out today and it was FOGGY to begin with...ugh. took about 2 hours to clear up. Once it did we came across a buck Dave was good to go after. He and Redman moved to get into position. Dave couldn't quite get set before it showed off. Weather continued to improve and we chased all day. Dinner was elk steaks, baked taters, and green beans. We are pretty content currently. Here are some pics

Today was beautiful weather. BLM roads were dry and good enough that I never even had to think about 4wd. Face and Joel put a long stalk on a group with a couple bucks that were interesting. In the end not what Dave was looking for. About 10 min left on light got close to a buck I would have shot (about 225) bUT not the one again. Cool, big moon out over the bigger expanse. Living is pretty good.

Yesterday was another gorgeous day. Spent all day off road WAY back in BLM and HMA pieces. Saw quite a few goats of various sizes. Saw a beautiful golden eagle up close- I love raptors.

We were up, down and all around. Roads were almost completely dried and the only time I even had to go to 4wd was a creek crossing- and I probably would have been ok without. During the day Joel and Dave made a couple stalks and Dave missed a shot on a buck a little high. Got to be about 1530 so we start back toward the road. After a bit we came around a bend and found a nice buck. They got out and started a stalk. After a few minutes they were out of my sight. And hour or so later I heard a shot. I still could not see them. I waited and waited....then I finally started down a 2 track in that general direction. A few hundred yards and Redman flags me down. Dave had GOOD goat down. There was another ALMOST 2 track that team within about 150 yards of it and we headed back. By this point we were about to lose light. Got it all cut up and back to the truck in the dark. By the time we got back to the house it was about 2200..... cooked some eggs, bacon and hashbrowns (almost smoking is our with smoke from a bit of spilled grease). Finally got to bed and slept in. Pics of the ghost when I get them. Man after these last few days I love my truck even more ..... just doing everything asked of it without hiccup.
