Like some of the others, I get a piece of board and use the router on the edges then stain it. I then cut out a small oval shape piece of wood and use 2 screws to attach the skull plate, then take a strip of thin plastic ( 3-4 inches wide) and long enough to wrap around the board and horns to make a "pool" and then staple it to itself, then mix up some plaster of paris and pour in the "pool" , let it stand for a few days, take the plastic wrap off, and then sand smooth and shape, I use tanned deer hide to wrap it and then staple to the back, then just mount it to the stained board and hang. My Dad and I do every buck we take like this unless its a book deer. . .then it gets special treatment @ about $ 350 a pop. LOL. Ill try to upload some pics, but at work it doesn't work anymore. . .
