I see that SE Montana has gotten some rain and snow the last couple days. I read the threads about this year’s drought changing up the deer hunting this year with deer moving to private where the green and water is. Is the moisture they just got going to change this at all? Or is it too little too late?

Hard to say just yet. If we get some more rain and some warm days the cheat grass should green up on the south slopes. Cheat grass isn't good for much but the new growth is something that animals will eat.

Mule deer populations have been trending away from the big blocks of public in favor of the greener/safer pastures on private land since the mid nineties. The best thing to get them back on public is a big snow.

Don't worry about it and go hunting. Deer go to private ground for a lot of reasons, not just green grass. There is nothing different about this year that would change that.
Thanks for the reply’s. First trip to the area. Hunting solo and have two weeks to hunt. Just trying to figure out a game plan on where to look. Not much experience with mule deer.
