SD Pheasants Help

I am heading to SD, on 11/1 for three days of pheasant hunting in
the Peirre area, any help in a general location would be appreciated.

I assume you have dogs?

Make sure you have a hunting atlas that shows all the public access. The grasslands West of Pierre are good.

I spent most of my time finding plenty of birds between Philip and Pierre, all on public access.

Visting a friend, no room for dogs, thought i would try to get in some hunting while i'm there.

Be sure to try for some greater prairie chickens on the Grasslands!! Way cool bird to hunt. I hunted there about 7 years ago and had a good time. IME, if you decide to knock on doors for permission on private land be sure to have some cash on hand...

All in all we had a great trip though. Here's a pic from day one.

Without dogs, it will be tough. Picture an ocean of grass and some very leggy birds. Best of luck!

Having a blast , learning how to hunt SD without a dog. Hunting with my son and nephew and friend. Hunting is a bit different in SD than in Ca. Mainly there is a lot more birds here than in Ca.
