As some of you know, I've been interested in a 338 Fed for a short range bear/hog rifle. The pickin's are slim. I ran across the Savage 11 Hog Hunter and was wondering if any HT's have any experience with this particular rifle. And what is that funky knob at the muzzle of the barrel for ?

I don't have that particular Savage, but I sure like the Savages I do have. A suppressor adds some length that you may not want, but they sure are nice. If you ever went the suppressed route, your barrel would already be threaded.

or install a muzzlebreak instead of a suppressor. I have shot a few mod 11, but not the hog hunter. they are accurate and had decent triggers as well. Can't really go wrong with a savage in my opinion.
