Anyone own one? What is your opinion, pros & cons, feed & function, accuracy?

Shoot, feed ok. It's a 1911.
I haven't seen one yet that didn't brake the recoil spring "guide pin".
That of 5 people i know that have them.
3 have just taken them out. The other 2 got new guide pins.

Good grief, I think you might've talked me out of one? haha. I've owned a few semi auto clones never a problem with any of them. Wonder if that is a Rock Island problem only?

Of the few I've handled, trigger left a lot to be desired, didn't like hollow points, accuracy was fair, slide to frame fit was nice. Front sight dovetail on one was cut oversize. Edges on thumb safeties were sharp.

Thank you both.

If you have an issue with a particular type of ammo in a 1911, throat the barrel.

My Springfield Armory Champion didn't like LSWC.
Watched a video from Wilson Combat on Youtube on it.
Was easy to do with a Dremel and some different grades of grinding stones.
Thing will feed empty cases, no problem.
Good for clearing practice.

That’s a good reminder of why I carry Glocks. What a headache.

The grip on a Glock just doesn't fit my hand right.
That & after having a single action trigger, you'll learn to hate the Glock trigger.

Took me 15 minutes, and $5 to throat my barrel.
I’ve shot plenty of single actions, to each their own.

I do love 1911s, just don’t think they’re very practical.

My first 1911 was a Rock Island and it was great. Just used it for target shooting with standard ball rounds and I think I may have had one or two jams out of about 1k rounds. Fun as hell and fit my hand well. Rounds went right where they were supposed to. I did upgrade the guide rod and spring as others have stated.

Thanks for the feedback all.
I spoke with one of my older bro's today. He's own a boatload of large bore pistols. He said I could have one of his. As he owns too many. It's a chrome plated American Classic 45acp.
