Robbie Robertson, The Band co-founder and guitarist, dead at 80.​

Canadian guitarist and songwriter Robbie Robertson died Wednesday in LA.​

Hard to believe he was 80 saw the band yrs ago man they had many great tunes loved the last waltz movie

Loved his solo project “Music for Native Americans.” Wasn’t the most skillful lead guitarist, but every note meant something and he wasn’t self-conscious playing it. RIP Robbie.

The story behind The Weight is pretty interesting. Robertson wrote it while drawing a salary from Dylan, who owned the copyrights. I sang it 'take a load off Annie' for years. RIP Jaime Royal "Robbie" Robertson OC, a true all star.

That’s for sure. And he always had a smile on his face doing it, which was the best of all. And it seemed like he was always trying to connect with the people he was playing with as they played.

28 years to the day after Jerry Garcia’s death. Both had endless respect for each other and Jerry often covered Robertson’s music in epic fashion. Sometimes these legendary musicians seem connected on a higher level….

Not to derail, but plenty still do, if you know where to look.

Coming from a millennial who puts The Band as one of my “gateway bands”. Robbie wasn’t my favorite member, but his influence runs deep. So it goes

It’s getting harder and harder to find copies that have not been auto tuned. The weight is one of my all time faves, I watch the video about once a week.
