I’m pretty sure being a “true” American means believing in freedom of or from religion, being or not being part of a certain political party, agreeing or disagreeing with your fellow countrymen on the current hot button issues of the day, and having the right to express whatever the hell it is you want to express.

It’s definitely not being pigeonholed into a corner being told what to believe because that certain viewpoint is what’s American.

Not being able to be an individual is about the most oppressive, un-American thing out there.

Be yourself, think for yourself.

The video is horrendous. I started a Facebook page back in February and deleted that shit Friday. The amount of people celebrating his death is ridiculous. Social media is a cancer on the world. I’ve seen changes in my own daughters because of it. I know…HuntTalk is social media, but it’s supposed to be about hunting.

I hope his family finds some kind of peace in this world!

I'd just settle for people being good human beings first and foremost and worry about nationality later.

I couldn't agree more concerning FB. Several years ago my wife and I got it. Had it a about 6 months and both agreed we didn't need it. Haven't had it in years and never looked back nor do I miss it. So many negative effects on society as a whole.

I had FB for less than a day , after my divorce 11 years ago , I put it on my phone , 1st friend request was from the X , I think there algorithms sent it to me or whatever, took it off my phone that minute , HT is my only social media footprint 👣 and we’re a small group here , and I’m comfortable with that

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey ordered that flags at state facilities be flown at half-staff in honor of Charlie Kirk.

Morrisey is a pandering joke. It's all about perception for him. Spent years telling the citizens of WV how bad their lives were because of Obama and Biden, only to not do a damn thing beneficial when he gets elected.

True Americans? I've come to hate this cliche. I guess by true, you just mean those like you and in agreement with you.

I guess, in reality, being born in the USA makes you a true American.
A great thing about this COUNTRY is everyone is entitled to their own option.

You said it. Own it.

And opinions only carry so much weight, even if entitled to have. You want my opinion on a heart procedure or you want to hear from a"true" cardiologist?

You want my opion on your car or do you want to hear the opinion of a "true " mechanic?

And don't kill somebody for speaking words you don't agree with.

We lack consensus on formerly unifying values. Politicians have sought to make this division their brand, and most of us have followed their lead. Our global enemies have followed suit.

The Civil War was fought to replace the economic value of slavery with the the civil liberty of emancipation, at great economic and social expense to the south. We face no such dire divisions currently. Woke vs. MAGA is weak tea for fomenting a revolution.

The USA was not the beacon of the world until about 1950. Read The Fifty Year Wound by Leebaert for consideration of how America's ascent and mistakes during the Cold War brought us to this point. The remedy to our division is simple, by no means easy. In-common American values must again supersede divisive values. In our myopia, we veer toward violence against each other, contesting the lesser divisive values. No guarantee we will stop the slide. A house divided against itself cannot stand, Matthew 12:25.

The main question now will be what it always has been, but increased in the age technology and post 9-11. What are we willing to sacrifice in terms of liberties and freedoms for some perceived measure of safety. Should we allow AI to scan and monitor these places on the dark web where a lot of this stuff thrives? If we do, what do we allow after AI tells us an individual is getting radicalized and might cause harm? Is "might cause harm" enough? Ironic that these questions come to the forefront after the death of a man who thrived on the sharing and debate of beliefs and ideas. I'm not sure what the solution is, but I can look at how dissenting ideas are monitored and suppressed in China and get very worried.

The people celebrating his death should be ashamed of themselves. So should those who pass themselves off as "Christians" and are raising him up as if he was a saint. As usual, both extremes are out of touch with reality, morality and plain common decency.
