Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

As there shouldn’t be, because voting laws are the Constitutional right of the States. I hope you aren’t suggesting this, too should fall under Big Government’s purview?

It is mind boggling how quickly we went from smaller government, right to privacy, personal responsibility and Constitution-waving to clamoring for Federal overreach, and standing in line to sign up for the surveillance state. What is happening?

There shouldn’t be a comprehensive national database on citizens at all. Ever. Linking every person’s data serves no legitimate purpose. In this day and age, data is a weapon, and will be wielded accordingly.

If you pay taxes, you and dependents are already in a national database. You can agree or disagree if it should exist or not, but it exists.

The 1964 Voting Rights Act
Stephen A. Smith and Bill Maher blasted Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) over his response to a voter ID bill, warning him and other Democrats they are “playing right into” President Donald Trump’s hands.

On Wednesday’s episode of Straight Shooter on SiriusXM, Smith was joined by Maher, and the two were equally unimpressed with Schumer labeling the SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act — which would require proof of citizenship to vote — “Jim Crow 2.0.”

“The SAVE Act is nothing more than Jim Crow 2.0. It would disenfranchise millions of Americans. Every single Senate Democrat will vote against any bill that contains it,” Schumer wrote in a Monday post on X. “Speaker [Mike] Johnson should tell SAVE Act Republicans to stand down or else this shutdown will be on them.”

Smith warned Democrats not to engage in Schumer’s type of “hyperbole,” arguing it hearkens back to a time “we’re not living” in now.

“Don’t do that because that’s playing right into Trump’s hands. Was I right in saying that?” he asked Maher.

The Real Time and Club Random host agreed, warning Democrats race-based opposition to the voter ID bill will “bit you in the a**” as polling shows support for such efforts. A Pew Research Center survey released in 2025 found 83% back voter ID requirements.

“Not everything is primarily a racial issue. It has racial overtones as does everything in this country. But yes, you’re right it’s foolish to make it about that,” Maher said. “And it’s also foolish because [former President Joe] Biden used that exact phrase about voting in Georgia. And then they did polling after that next election came up. And even the Black folks said, ‘We had no problem voting.’ So, like you say, don’t engage in the kind of hyperbole that’s just going to bite you in the a**.”

Thanks for mentioning that our personal information can be used as a weapon.

On that front, this is what I received from a legal group in my email today.

Our client, Jon Doe, read a news article about government attempts to deport a man seeking asylum from Afghanistan, where he could be killed for having helped the United States government against the Taliban.

Appalled by the man's treatment, Jon emailed the government's lead attorney at a publicly available email address to politely express his disapproval – simply calling on the Department of Homeland Security to "apply principles of common sense and decency."

Within hours, DHS had subpoenaed Google for information associated with Jon's Gmail account, including his address, Social Security number, and driver's license number. A few weeks later, federal agents came to his home asking questions about the email he had sent asking DHS to protect the asylum seeker.

If this doesn't scare the h#ll out of you I don't know what else to say.

Many many more people are alive because of illegal immigration. That can be fact checked.
How many people eat grapes, apples, oranges, pears, lettuce, etc subsidized by that labor? How many people live in homes subsidized by that labor? They're not catchy headlines, but it doesn't mean there isn't a positive value that people are receiving and not acknowledging.

Why do you think these workers have to be illegals? It's not like they have to be illegal to work in the US just because they are from another country.
